Our Bioglitter creates the same sparkling effect as conventional glitter, but unlike conventional glitter, it is biodegradable and plastic-free (in accordance with EU Regulation 2023/55).
Our glitter decomposes by 90% after just 56 days in the environment. So it’s no problem if a little gets misplaced while applying makeup, at a festival, or at a party. You can also wash off our Bioglitter after use without any problem.
EASY APPLICATION
Step 1: Apply our glitter glue or some aloe vera gel to an area of your face.
Step 2: Sprinkle on the glitter in your favorite color and gently pat it down with your fingers. For more precise application, use one of our glitter brushes.
Et voilà—your glitter makeup is ready. Our BIOGLITTER lasts for several hours and feels pleasant on your skin.
EASY CLEANING
Our bio glitter is biodegradable and plastic-free (in accordance with EU Regulation 2023/55). Water and soap, or our makeup removal pads with a cleansing milk or cleansing oil, are sufficient for removal.
Unlike conventional plastic glitter, our bio glitter consists mainly of cellulose and may be rinsed into the wastewater. We create products that not only look good but also feel right. For you and the planet.

HOW IT'S MADE?
Cellulose
Cellulose is the main component of plant cell walls and also the most common organic compound in the world. What gives plants stability forms the basis for our biodegradable glitter. We use cellulose from eucalyptus for this purpose. It creates the transparent material from which our glitter is later made.
MINERALS
For the various vibrant colors of our BioGlitter, we use natural and synthetic minerals and pigments, process them into powder, and mix them with resin before applying them to the cellulose film.
NATURHARZ
To avoid using synthetic adhesives, we currently use shellac—a natural resin. Shellac is not always vegan yet. But stay tuned: very soon, all our Bio Glitters will be vegan thanks to a new formula.

For us, Bioglitter is plastic-free and biodegradable in accordance with the EU Microplastics Regulation. It may enter wastewater without causing any harm to the environment.
Our BIRKENSPANNER Bioglitter meets these requirements in accordance with EU Regulation 2023/55. It is made from cellulose sourced from European eucalyptus plantations, as well as minerals and pigments for coloring.
To fix the colors onto the cellulose film, we use natural resin (shellac).
Conventional glitter usually consists of tiny plastic particles that enter the environment as microplastics after use. Once released, these particles remain for many years and pollute waterways, soils, and natural habitats.
Since the EU microplastics ban came into effect, conventional plastic glitter may no longer be newly placed on the market in the EU. Although existing stocks may still be sold, plastic glitter will ultimately become a thing of the past.
BIRKENSPANNER Bioglitter is the alternative for anyone who does not want to choose between fun and responsibility. According to the current EU requirements, it is plastic-free and biodegradable, with no compromise on sparkle.

Our natural glitter primer is the ideal base for your Bio Glitter. The nourishing formula made with shea butter and natural oils not only provides optimal hold but also pampers your skin. This makes the glitter easy to apply and keeps it reliably in place, even at festivals, Carnival, or long event days.
Although aloe vera gel or petroleum jelly can also be used, they do not offer the same adhesive strength, comfort, or nourishing properties as our specially developed primer. For long-lasting sparkle and a pleasant feel on the skin, we therefore recommend our glitter primer.
Our bioglitter is made from cellulose sourced from sustainably managed eucalyptus plantations in Europe. This renewable raw material is transformed into a smooth, transparent film that forms the basis for the distinctive glitter effect.
For the brilliant colors, we use carefully selected pigments and minerals. These are combined with natural resin and applied to the cellulose film. This creates high-quality bioglitter with an intense sparkle.
